Barbez is thrilled to announce the release of Elegy for Gaza on Avant Night records. The 7-inch single, a plea for peace and lament for the victims of the war in Gaza, is our first new release in seven years. You can purchase the album here. Proceeds will benefit World Central Kitchen and the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund.

The cover, by the visual artist Adam O'Neal, was based on an image taken by the Palestinian photojournalist Said Khatib, who gave the rendering his blessing. Arabic calligraphy was drawn by the Lebanese fashion designer Gabi Asfour (threeASFOUR), and the Arabic poem was translated by his sister, Nana Asfour, a journalist and editor. Artwork was created by Heung-Heung Chin, the designer for John Zorn's Tzadik label. The music was recorded and mixed by our old friend and longtime collaborator Martin Bisi at B.C. Studio in Brooklyn and mastered by Fred Kevorkian at Kevorkian Mastering in Brooklyn.

We're also excited to play two record release shows in July, our first performances in nearly a year. We'll be sharing these nights with our dear friend The Lonesome Organist, an incomparable one-man band from Chicago.
